Services

Vaccinations - Kittens and puppies should receive their first vaccination at 8-10 weeks of age. A second injection is required 3 weeks later. At the time of initial vaccination, your pet will have a health check, free dose of wormer, Frontline flea treatment and Purina food. If required, we will also issue 6 weeks' free puppy or kitten health insurance.

Puppies are rountinely vaccinated against the five major canine infectious dieases, including distemper and parvovirus

Kittens are routinely vaccinated against Cat Flu, Feline Chlamydiosis and Enteritis. We also strongly recommend vaccination against Feline Leukaemia.

Rabbits are also at risk from preventable disease. We recommend vaccination against Myxomatosis and Viral Haemorrhagic Disease.

Healthy Pet Service - We undertake a physical examination at the time of initial vaccinations and at the time of their annual booster injection.
An extra check at 6-8 months may be advisable for certain breeds of dogs to monitor growth and behaviour. After 6 years of age we recommend a more detailed annual check to identify and allow early treatment of diseases associated with ageing.

Nutrition Service - Byron Veterinary Clinic offer a wide range of advice relating to growth, diet, disease control and pet fitness. As well as specialist prescription diets for specific illnesses, we can provide the new life stage diets where the food is developed to match the age of your pets. Our reception has more details about diets and our nutrition clinics. We recommend phoning us 24 hours before collection to ensure availability of the diet your pet requires.

Operations - Animals attending for surgery or dentistry should be starved from 6pm the previous evening and have water withdrawn from 8 am on the morning of admission.

Dentistry - Bad breath can be a sign of underlying disease and should always be checked. Veterinary treatment can normally alleviate the problem.

Prescriptions - Repeat prescriptions will be limited to a maximum of one month's medication. Animals are not permitted to remain on medication without professional examination for more than three months. All repeat prescriptions must be authorised by a vet. To avoid delay, a prior telephone call would allow us to check availability of the medicine and authorise the prescription for collection.
