Hypnosis
For example, when becoming totally absorbed in a book or film and lost all track of time and were unaware of things going on around us.
We also experience this state of mind just before falling asleep and just before waking up. Hypnosis is not a treatment, but a tool or medium used to relax the conscious mind and access the sub-conscious mind so that therapy can take place. Hypnosis is a state of deep mental and physical relaxation.
The reason the work is carried out during hypnosis is because the client becomes very relaxed and the sub-conscious mind can be accessed without interference from the critical and conscious mind which then becomes quiet and at peace.
The sub-conscious mind contains memories of experiences and emotions which can sometimes cause current problems and by reaching it together the client and therapist can work through these issues and enable the client to let go of unwanted feelings and change behaviour patterns that may be currently 'holding the client back' or causing 'stuckness' in their life. Hypnosis is not mind control, one is not unconscious or asleep and one remains fully in control, conscious and alert throughout the session. No hypnotherapist can get a person to do anything the disagree with. The person would simply come out of the trance as one goes in and out of trance state all day long. It is a natural state rather like daydreaming. Most people can be hypnotised if they really want to be, but one cannot be hypnotised against one's will. One will not reveal images or situations, even though aware of them, unless one wants to. One's concentration becomes more focused and the mind more alert during hypnosis. One's muscles generally feel relaxed, there may be a feeling of heaviness in the limbs, a floating sensation or warmth and tingling felt in the body during hypnosis. Hypnosis is often introduced by the visualisation of relaxing and calming experiences. There are several levels of hypnotic trance. Foe example during a light trance one will feel relaxed, but will not necessary feel hypnotised. Most people can achieve this level. During a medium trance one becomes completely relaxed, more able to accept suggestion and although aware of any background noise, will not be disturbed by it. During a deep trance one does not necessarily remember everything afterwards, but will not do anything against one's will. Only very few people reach this state. Often the depth of trance increases over several sessions. There are two kinds of hypnotherapy treatment- 1) Suggestion therapy - Hypnotherapy 2) Analytical therapy - Hypno-Analysis(for deeper routed issues) Please click on the tabs in the menu for more information on these hypnotherapy treatments, or you can follow the following links: Back to Home page | |||
