NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT

LAUNCH OF NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT – A NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM

The City of Nottingham Neighbourhood Watch Council (CNNWC) has kept its promise to replace the Neighbourhood Watch Ringmaster system that fell into disuse some years ago.

It is pleased today to launch its new 21st Century Communications System called NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT.

The system has been designed and developed by VISAV Ltd of Sherwood. We are grateful for the support of Notts Police and the City Council (CDP) during the development of the system. Local Area Commander Will Chell and Sherwood Beat Manager: Daz Corbett have been particularly supportive and deserve a special vote of thanks.

Mike Douglas, the owner of VISAV Limited and a member of the CNNWC has generously donated ALERT to Neighbourhood Watch in the City under the management of the CNNWC.

As promised, ALERT will provide you with information from the Police and other Agencies by either telephone or e-mail, but the system can do much more than this. During the next few months, including during the Neighbourhood Watch Conference on 12 January 2008, you will have opportunities to view the System’s full potential.

The CNNWC will be writing to all registered members on the system in order to confirm contact details and to provide them with a password to access the website if they choose to do so. From the site, they will be able to choose when and how they would like to receive messages (including turning them off altogether).

In due course, the CNNWC will survey its Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators for their views on the NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT system.
