In the beginning contd

The Bogue Cometh
Some of the lads were showing great promise and wanted to form teams. The trouble was there wasn`t a single age group where we had enough players. We might have 8 under 14`s, 6 under 15`s and so on.

Eventually, one of the regular helpers, James Bogue, provided the inspiration and momentum to start an `adult` team in which the teenagers would be able to take their place amongst the old `uns.

Kinoulton 86 Is Formed
The name helps us to remember that the club was formed in 1986. Apart from James and I, we roped in all sorts of other adults like Bill Collier and Rob Rampley, but the bulk of the team was made up of teenagers such as Richard Collier, Andy Smith, Nigel Burnham, Rob Evans, Dave Forsey, Ian Hilton, James Beesley, Stirling Oswin, Pete Ogilvy, Andy Castledine, Chris Evans, Ivan Green and various Addisons.

At that point in our development we only played friendlies, which is just as well. Every side we played against was generally much bigger and older than our lot and we frequently arrived at grounds crammed into mine and James`s cars to be greeted by gasps of `bloody hell, we`re playing a load of kids`.

Still, we appeared to win more than we lost and pretty soon the eager lads were putting pressure on us to join a League.

Jim Parker
Indeed we did join the League and we also had our first Proper Manager. That is, up until then, James and I had sort of picked the team, or it just picked itself. Jim had been playing at centre half with his son, Adrian playing at full back.

Some influential players joined in those early years, such as Ian Pacey and Ron Owen (regrettably no longer with the club), plus Ray Arme, Phil Hall, Marcos Sala, Nick Adlam and Tom Hartley who are still members today.
