Indeed we did join the League and we also had our first Proper Manager. That is, up until then, James and I had sort of picked the team, or it just picked itself. Jim had been playing at centre half with his son, Adrian playing at full back. Some influential players joined in those early years, such as Ian Pacey and Ron Owen (regrettably no longer with the club), plus Ray Arme, Phil Hall, Marcos Sala, Nick Adlam and Tom Hartley who are still members today.
